In the last few years, especially near the western border, we see more and more new buildings, with old, somewhat dilapidated but still usable buildings hiding next to them. This phenomenon can also be seen in Mosonmagyaróvár. In many cases, old factories, which are of great architectural and spiritual and historical commemorative value, are not taken care of, but are left unused and in a dilapidated state, and are left to be reclaimed by nature. Just think, if these brownfield sites could be filled with new functions that would be attractive to the community, the area could be reclaimed and brought back into the city's bloodstream. Through the former gunpowder factory in Mosonmagyaróvár, our article will delve into the examination of the area's potential for recycling, considering the presentation of the site and the criteria for selecting the former construction location. After conducting examinations based on various aspects, it is necessary to define the boundaries of the nearly 3 km2 area and determine a limited number of buildings that can serve as a worthy starting point and a model for the area. The determination of the function is also based on the evaluation of various factors, taking into account the opinions of the immediate audience, the residents of the city. Our article concludes with a possible solution, identifying a building stock that could be revitalised, reused with an appropriate function that matches the results of the research and study.
