The integration of solar panels into buildings (BIPV) has a history of several decades. However, in Hungary the BIPV systems have only spread to a limited extent. This study, beyond presenting the theoretical possibilities and typologies, quantitatively outlines possible directions that take into account the local climatic conditions. In addition to the theoretical framework and guidance, it also presents and compares various solutions and the energy conversion potentials inherent in the possibilities of architectural integration using
a real case study. The research analyses the building stock of the Faculty of Technology and Informatics of the University of Pécs and investigates the possibilities for integrating solar panels on the façade of an existing building, and what proportion of the building's current electricity consumption is covered by the production of alternative energy by the building integrated photovoltaic panels.
