Abstract

Modern architecture brought new possibilities with the development of industry and technology. Among other things, it has become possible to visually connect the exterior and interior with transparent structures while ensuring climatic separation. In this article, through the examination of a case study, we are looking for the answer to what possibilities do we have in learning about the energetic behaviour of buildings with large glazed areas, for calculating heat gains and heat losses within the framework of regulated energy calculations, the simple and detailed calculation methods; what role does passive solar heat gain play in the energetic compliance of these buildings; that among the basic cases of structural solutions, two- or three-layer glazing, internal and external shading, the use of which is advantageous in order to create the comfort of the interior space. The investigations were carried out according to the calculations of TNM Decree and the rules of ÉKM Decree, effective from November 2023. Based on the research, we found that from an energy point of view, three-layer glazing and movable shading on the outside prove to be the best choices.
