Abstract

One of the big questions of the 2000s is the impact of digitalisation on the development of children and future generations. The time spent on digital content far outstrips the time spent on classic games, even though construction games have been shown to develop key skills for the creative industries. The paper will describe the development and educational role of these games, as well as world-renowned university competitions that support the concept of “playful learning” and career development. Focusing on students of architecture, civil engineering and wood engineering, it seeks to answer the questions of why educational development goals are not being met in Hungary and what barriers hinder the introduction of project-based education. It can be concluded that, although digitalisation is gaining ground, educational development has not followed this up adequately in terms of developing creative skills.
