Based on the circular economy model, materials that become waste can be recycled back into the system as raw materials, even across industries. Considering the characteristics of household textile waste, the question may arise whether it can be used as thermal or sound insulation. As the literature does not currently answer this question satisfactorily, our research investigated the possibilities of recycling textile waste for construction purposes. To analyse the applicability, we carried out building physics investigations, i.e. thermal and acoustic laboratory tests on different textile waste test specimens. The thermal conductivity of the tested samples showed results in the range of 0.036-0.074 W/(mK), while the sound absorption coefficient was in the range [0;1] in all cases.
