Nearly a quarter of a century has passed
since the termination of Hungarian Optical Works, so the memories associated with it are part of Hungarian industrial history. The series production of various types of geodetic instruments developed and manufactured in Hungary began at the company in the seventies of the nineteenth century, the most successful instruments were produced in the second half of the last century. The success of the instruments was based on careful design, high quality production and well-organised sales. This was guaranteed by a team of selected developers. This process of enterprise-driven and highly successful innovation is particularly relevant today. Last year, two key designers of the company, legendary figures of the successful era of the Hungarian geodetic instrument industry passed away, the mechanical designer Gábor Kisfalusi, and the optical designer dr. Antal Lisziewicz. Their memory, the instruments and special optical systems they designed are preserved by the Hungarian Optical Works Memorial Foundation.
